Daryl is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law (as certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization). A certified specialist is more than just an attorney who specializes in a particular area of the law.
A certified specialist must have passed a written examination, demonstrated a high level of experience, fulfilled ongoing education requirements, and been favorably evaluated by other attorneys familiar with his work.
The State Bar of California certifies specialists to help the public identify attorneys who have demonstrated proficiency in specialized fields of law and to encourage attorney proficiency in those fields.

Daryl has practiced law in California since 1978 both as a sole practictioner and as a member of some of Southern California’s leading law firms. He has received the highest peer rating (AV®) in legal ability and ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell.
Daryl is a past Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association Estate Planning, Probate and Trusts Section. He has also served as Chairman of the Probate Section for the San Bernardino County Bar Association.
In 1975 Daryl graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University (“BYU”) with a B.A. in economics. He then pursued his legal education at J. Reuben Clark Law School (“JRC”) at BYU where he graduated magna cum laude in 1978 and was designated a “J. Reuben Clark Scholar” upon graduation. He also received the JRC Faculty award for “High Standards of Preparation and Performance in the Classroom.”
Daryl is the author of California Estate Planning (A Layman’s Guide). He has lectured on estate planning topics for California Continuing Education of the Bar and for attorney bar associations and community groups.
Redlands, California has been the home of Daryl’s private law practice since 1995. His office is located in a lovely, family-owned Victorian house in downtown Redlands.As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Daryl has provided a lifetime of service. He and his wife, Vallorie, have five children and thirteen grandchildren. They believe that strong families are the foundation of a healthy society
About Vallorie Carlson
Vallorie works part-time as a secretary and office manager for the Law Office of Daryl H. Carlson. She is truly a people person and goes out of her way to serve others, whether at work, home, or church or in her community. She is a past PTA President at Redlands High School. She has also served as President of a local chapter of the Relief Society, the oldest and largest women’s organization in the world.
Vallorie graduated in 1975 from Brigham Young University with at Bachelor of Science degree.
She likes to be organized and enjoys sewing, gardening, and reading.
She and Daryl have been married since 1973. She is the mother of five children and many grandchildren (the number keeps growing). One of her greatest pleasures in life is spending time with her family and seeing them progress. She is the mother of five college graduates (an engineer, doctor, teacher, lawyer/CPA, and dietitian).
